The Baby Yoda of ‘Boba Fett’ Is Here, But the Toy Is Selling Out Fast
We're doomed!
It’s finally happened. The Book of Boba Fett has become cute. With the third episode — “The Streets of Mos Espa” — Mr. Fett gets a new adorable and cuddly companion, and the show may have just found its Baby Yoda. Here’s why Episode 3 of Fett brought the greatest twist yet: An innocent Star Wars creature we can root for. But where’s the toy? Spoilers ahead.
Thanks to a wonderful cameo from the one and only Danny Trejo, Boba Fett is presented with a new pet, a rancor. Recall, when you were a kid, you used your plastic rancor toy to devour random action figures, and in dark moments of alternate fan fiction, Luke Skywalker, too. In Return of the Jedi, the Rancor was a beast that lived under a trapdoor in Jabba’s place. Now, the new one is doing the same thing, but Boba Fett is going to be nice to it. Awesome! Adorable!
But, as The Book of Boba Fett reveals its Baby Yoda — the Baby Rancor — we might be facing another Star Wars toy shortage.
Now that Boba has a new beastly bestie, you’re gonna want to snag a rancor toy, right? I bet you want one of those classic ones, right? Like a nice big one that can grip an action figure? If you’ve got a kid old enough to watch Book of Boba Fett, you’ll want a rancor toy so you can have a Boba Fett action figure try to ride the rancor. All sounds good. However, as of now, there is no new rancor toy being sold by Kenner or Lucasfilm. Meaning, you’re going to have to get a used one, and those can be a little expensive. Here’s a few examples on Amazon, to give you an idea of what you’re up against.

Will there be a new Boba Fett rancor toy?
Pretty expensive! And rare! So, what’s the deal? Will Lucasfilm release a new toy based on Boba Fett’s rancor? Because Danny Trejo’s charming new rancor keeper is clearly sticking around and we’re obviously going to see Boba Fett ride this new rancor in a future episode, that means we must be getting a new baby rancor toy, right?
Well, this is Baby Yoda 2019 all over again. It’s hard to believe now, but in the Fall of 2019, there was ZERO Baby Yoda merchandise for several, several months. So, while The Book of Boba Fett is on for another four weeks, you probably won’t see any new toys based on the show until after it has completed its run. Until then, you’re going to have to bounty hunt for a rancor toy, the best that you can.
