Universal Pictures just released the prologue to Jurassic World 3, aka Jurassic World: Domination, and we can get a pretty good feel for what the dinosaurs will be up to in the upcoming movie.
The prologue, which first debuted in IMAX theaters during the preview time of F9 showings over the summer, takes us back 65 million years into the past. We get a glimpse of what the world may have looked like before humans, when dinosaurs ruled the earth.
But quickly, the prologue throws us back into modern day when the dinosaurs were revived. Instead of being something marveled in the past, we watch a T. rex wreaking havoc on people at a drive-in theater and the chaos that follows.
Technically the prologue isn’t part of the actual finished film, according to Universal. But we do get a look into what the next movie in the franchise is set to cover. And it’s very clear that this movie is going to have very convincing visual effects.
“The Prologue features seven new species of dinosaurs that have never been seen in a Jurassic film before,” a press release states. The effects are “created by the legendary Industrial Light & Magic, which has created visual effects for every Jurassic film, including Jurassic World Dominion.”
Dominion is set to take place a while after the end of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom in the timeline. And there will be some very familiar actors reprising their iconic characters including Sam Neil, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldbum, will return from the original Jurassic Park trilogy. In addition, Jurassic World’s Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard will return, too.
Jurassic World: Dominion is set to be released next summer on June 10, 2022.
