‘Thor: Love and Thunder’: 4 Scoops Straight From Chris Pratt
"It’s a very rock ‘n roll story."
Although Chris Pratt is starring in the Amazon Prime sci-fi dadcore action flick The Tomorrow War, Marvel fans want to know, what’s up with the next appearance of Star-Lord? At the end of Avengers: Endgame, Thor (Chris Hemsworth) joined the Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) and the Guardians of the Galaxy in their various adventures around the various galaxies.
But, Star-Lord’s next Marvel movie isn’t Guardians of the Galaxy 3. Because he’s basically the guy carting Thor around the universe, Chris Pratt will appear in Thor: Love and Thunder, the highly anticipated Marvel flick, set to be released on May 6, 2022. Like the incredibly popular Thor: Ragnorok, this Thor outing will be directed by Taika Waititi. In a chat about parenting, marriage and his new flick The Tomorrow War, Fatherly was also able to get Pratt to reveal a few details from Thor: Love and Thunder. Here are the four big takeaways.
4. It’s a “Rock ‘n Roll” Movie
Pratt told us that Thor: Love and Thunder is a “very rock ‘n roll story in both journey and destination.” He also described the movie as “wild.” Seems like some hair metal will be on this soundtrack for sure.
3. Marvel is using Mandalorian tech
Unlike special effects films of the past, greens screens are starting to fade away. Instead, just like on The Mandalorian, Thor: Love and Thunder is using virtual sets. “They’re employing new strategies for creating these vibrant universes,” Pratt told us. “You can actually have a real background behind actors, so it’s not green screen. And it’s all pre-lit by these big digital panels behind you. It made for a really fun experience and, Taika has been great.”
2. Chris Pratt did not shoot scenes with Natalie Portman
The big news about Thor: Love and Thunder is that it will feature the return of Natalie Portman as Jane Foster. And this time, she’ll be swinging a hammer! So, will Star-Lord and Jane Foster get along? Well. They might not even meet within the context of the new movie. “I didn’t get to work in scenes with [Natalie Portman.]” Pratt told us. “But I’ve seen some images of her and she was perfectly nice and I got to meet her at a dinner, but other than that, I didn’t really get to see her or work with her.”
1. Chris Pratt and Chris Hemsworth are in love
There are a lot of Chrises in Marvel. But, it turns out Pratt freaking loves Hemsworth. “Chris Hemsworth is just truly the best,” Pratt tells Fatherly. “He’s the best at what he does and the best in the business for what he’s doing. He works his ass off. He’s so incredibly generous and collaborative, thoughtful, flattering…You kind of fall in love with him. Everyone kind of falls in love with him when they work with him because he’s got that kind of charisma that you just really want to be around.”
