The latest batch of fresh Looney Tunes Cartoons episodes just dropped on HBO Max, and Fatherly is here to get you stoked with an exclusive clip from one of the episodes. In it, private eye Daffy Duck is just minding his own business when in walks a mostly-naked Porky Pig, “a real oinker, curly tail and all,” who seeks the high-strung fowl’s help in recovering his trousers, only to be treated like a suspect. The clip is a hoot and clearly – and almost poignantly — imagines a pre-Covid world, as the characters shout and slobber all over each other.
Looney Tunes Cartoons debuted back in May 2020 with the launch of HBO Max as a competitor to Netflix, Amazon, and Hulu, and the show represents a major effort on the streamer’s part to appeal to the hearts, minds, and wallets of potential viewers, particularly those with kids desperate for family-friendly fare amidst the pandemic. The new Daffy Duck-Porky Pig episode is in keeping with the words of an early HBO Max press release that promised, “Marquee Looney Tunes characters will be featured in their classic pairings in simple, gag-driven and visually vibrant stories.”The streamer will ultimately deliver 11 80-minute episodes, each composed of multiple shorts. And those episodes, in addition to Porky Pig and Daffy Duck, will feature such familiar characters as Bugs Bunny, Yosemite Sam, Wile E. Coyote, Granny, Elmer Fudd, Sylvester, Road Runner, Taz, Tweety, Beaky Buzzard, and Marvin the Martian, too. Here’s Fatherly’s complete guide to HBO Max.
