Mark Hamill Has a New Kids' AudioBook That Slams Anti-Maskers

by Ian Spelling

Mark Hamill has a knack, a gift, even, for inserting himself into social causes and timely events, leveraging his eternal association with Luke Skywalker to do so. Now, after supporting sick or physically challenged fans, tormenting Trump, commenting on the impeachment proceedings, and playfully sparring with Sir Patrick Stewart of Star Trek, the Star Wars icon is doing his part to convince Covid-19 doubters to mask up. He’s lent his voice to “Will You Wear A Mask? I Ask,” a rhyming, read-aloud, Dr. Seuss-style picture book written and illustrated by Tom Ruegger. It follows two creatures on opposite sides of the mask debate, with one insisting the pandemic is a hoax and the other citing the importance of wearing a face covering. The family-friendly story also promotes both social distancing and the washing of hands.

As fun as the video is – and Hamill knocks both voices out of the park – all resulting proceeds will benefit World Central Kitchen. WCK is working across America to safely distribute individually packaged, fresh meals in communities that need support – for children and families to pick up and take home, as well as delivery to seniors who cannot venture outside.May the Force be with them! Oh, and mask up, please!
