Stranger Things is casting up for Season Four and, in the immortal words of Freddy Krueger, “How sweet, fresh meat.” That’s to say that Robert Englund, who terrified audiences as the murderous bastard son of 100 maniacs in the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise, will arrive in Hawkins, Indiana, as a recurring character on the popular Netflix show when it returns at some point in the near future. He joins a sizable group of freshly announced cast members who’ll either recur or appear as series regulars.

According to Netflix, Englund is set to portray Victor Creel, “a disturbed and intimidating man who is imprisoned in a psychiatric hospital for a gruesome murder in the 1950s.”Englund confirmed the news on Friday with a tweet that reads, “Off to Hawkins @Stranger_Things strangerthingstv #strangerthings4 Get ready to meet Victor Creel,” and features, quite appropriately, an upside-down photo of himself.

Some of the other new faces will include:

Jamie Campbell Bower (Sweeney Todd) has been tapped for the role of “Peter Ballard, a caring man who works as an orderly at a psychiatric hospital. Tired of the brutality he witnesses day after day, will Peter finally take a stand?”

Joseph Quinn (Catherine the Great) “joins as Eddie Munson, an audacious 80’s metalhead who runs The Hellfire Club, Hawkins High’s official D&D club. Hated by those who don’t understand him – and beloved by those who do – Eddie will find himself at the terrifying epicenter of this season’s mystery.”Eduardo Franco (Booksmart) “will play Argyle, Jonathan’s (Charlie Heaton) new best friend, a fun-loving stoner who proudly delivers delicious pizza pies for Surfer Boy Pizza.”Sherman Augustus (Into the Badlands) will be on board as “Lt. Colonel Sullivan, an intelligent, no-nonsense man who believes he knows how to stop the evil in Hawkins once and for all.”Nikola Djuricko (Genius) arrives on the scene as “Yuri, a seedy and unpredictable Russian smuggler who loves bad jokes, cold hard cash, and crunchy style peanut butter.”Mason Dye (Bosch) will take on the recurring role of Jason Carver. “Jason seemingly has it all – he’s handsome, he’s rich, he’s a sports star, and he’s dating the most popular girl in school. But as a new evil threatens Hawkins, Jason’s perfect world begins to unravel.”Tom Wlaschiha (Game of Thrones) has been added as “Dmitri, a Russian prison guard who befriends Hopper.”After a months-long production delay caused by the ongoing pandemic, production on season four of Stranger Things is once again underway. We’re particularly stoked about Englund joining the cast, as it’s in keeping with the Duffer Brothers’ tradition of showing love to 1980’s pop culture icons. Englund joins an impressive list of such figures that includes Cary Elwes, Sean Astin, Paul Reiser, Matthew Modine, and, of course, Winona Ryder. Netflix has yet to announce a premiere date for Stranger Things Season 4.
