Hello there! If you still think the announcement about the Obi-Wan Kenobi show feels like a fever dream, there is some physical evidence that this Disney+ show is indeed and in fact, happening. No, Hayden Christensen isn’t publicly denouncing his hatred of sand, though we do suspect that is coming. In addition to the return of Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru — ready to shut young Luke down about power converters — the Jedi master himself has finally gotten back into costume.

A recent photo has been making the rounds on Twitter of Ewan McGregor with a fully regrown Obi-Wan Kenobi beard. Fuck yes. Rejoice. It’s happening.

If you’re anything like me, one of the greatest moments in Star Wars history happened in one of the special features on the DVD for Revenge of the Sith. Because Anakin’s hair changed pretty substantially from Episode II to Episode III, it meant that Hayden Christensen had to get a totally new hairstyle. On the special features, Ewan McGregor walked in during this process and declared that Hayden was getting “a big Jedi mullet.”

Now, the mullets are pretty much over, but it is time for the return of a big Jedi beard. Or, more precisely, a beard that is somewhere in between McGregor’s beard in Revenge of the Sith and Alec Guinness’s beard in A New Hope.

Obi-Wan Kenobi is filming now and will hit Disney+…probably in 2022.
