3 New ‘Falcon and Winter Soldier’ Trailers Tease “Buddy Comedy” Action Vibe

The next big Marvel show is clearly a bromance. (In a good way!)

What is the greatest buddy-comedy-action-movie of all time? Is it 48 Hours? Beverly Hills Cop? A movie that somehow does not star Eddie Murphy? If Marvel and Disney have their way, it seems that they are hoping that you might add The Falcon and the Winter Soldier to your list of beloved buddy-comedy-action flicks. Even though this is a six-part TV series (yes only six episodes) series star, Sebastian Stan hopes that fans view Falcon and Winter Soldier in the same way you think about your favorite ’80s and ’90s action flicks.

“It’s a throwback to all those buddy comedy action movies,” Stan says in a new featurette trailer for Falcon and Winter Soldier. “You just don’t know if they’re going to kill each other or not.”

Marvel and Disney+ have just released three new short-clips ahead of the launch of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and it looks like exactly what Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan say it is: A straight-ahead action, an espionage TV show that forces Sam and Bucky into the greatest superhero partnership since…well…maybe ever? Here are the clips.

“Co-Workers”

Sebastian Stan and Anthony Mackie talk about giving each other a ton of shit on the set of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. They also both appear to have some kind of exclusive contract with the sports-brand of activewear called “Under Armor.” Yeah, they’re rocking some Under Armor shirts in this video. Are the same of those things gonna skyrocket? (’70s argyle sweaters have not made a comeback post-WandaVision, so whatever.)

“The Big Three”

This is an actual clip from the show. Here, Bucky and Sam debate about wizards. Bucky makes a solid joke about having read The Hobbit in 1937 when it first came out. That’s right! Bucky is from the olden days! He was frozen just like Captain America! His cultural references are all over the place! (Fun sidenote: The 1937 version of The Hobbit features a very different version of Gollum than the version you’ll buy new a bookstore. In 1951, Tolkien revised The Hobbit, to make Gollum more menacing and more addicted to the Ring. Has Bucky read that version? (Also, spoiler alert: This scene is hilarious.)

“What’s the Plan?”

Okay, so this show looks legit hilarious. Bucky doesn’t want Sam to call him “Buck.” Nobody knows what’s going on. This is gonna be great.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier debuts on Disney+ on Friday, March 19.
