New Weezer Song for ‘Bill & Ted’ Is… Good?
The song promises dad rock throughout the whole movie.
Weezer is back. That’s right: apparently, the iconic dad-rock band teamed up to create a hot single for the new Bill & Ted movie, Bill & Ted Face the Music, and just dropped a pretty funny music video to boot. But perhaps the most surprising thing about the new Weezer track is just how good the song really is. The track dropped only 14 days before the long-anticipated third installment in the seriously righteous series and is getting us pumped for the reboot, which features Bill & Ted’s two kids and a quest to save the universe through the creation of a perfect song.
The new song, called “Beginning of the End” (Wyld Stallyns Edit) will appear on the soundtrack for the movie. And, given that many O.G. Weezer fans have had issues with their newer music (or anything after the Blue album) they might be surprised to hear that the song really totally rocks. The soundtrack, it should be known, is full of kick ass dad rock from Cold War Kids to Lamb of God to FIDLAR, so Weezer’s new track, while totally kick-ass, fits thematically with two dads of teenage kids trying to save the world through rock and roll. (It appears, based on the track list, that Wyld Stallyns, otherwise known as Bill & Ted’s band, did end up writing the track to save the world, in a song titled “That Which Binds Us Through Time: The Chemical, Physical and Biological Nature of Love; an Exploration of The Meaning of Meaning, Part 1.” If that’s not the song that saves the world, I don’t know what is.
The music video is pretty fun and features cameos from the cast of the film. Bill & Ted face the music will hit streaming platforms and theatres on August 28.
