A map of the most popular car in every country

Have you ever wondered which

cars are the most popular in each country? Do you want to know where most drivers are somehow sporting a Tesla above any other car? Well, thanks to these new maps created by Budget Direct, car lovers can see the makes and models most popular around the world on a country-by-country basis. And there are a few surprises in these findings, but they mostly reinforce what many probably would have already guessed: for one, that Toyota cars are extremely popular nearly everywhere, and that Americans love Ford.Budget Direct writes, “Governments are taking steps to electrify their national fleet over the next decade. Elon Musk is making cyberpunk real. Vehicles are driving their damned selves,” and asks, “Do we know anything reliable about the motor industry?” The answer is yes, it turns out. To create the maps, Budget Direct looked at data from the BestSellingCarsBlog and figured out which vehicles were the most popular in each country by the end of 2019, although there were some nations that didn’t have this car data available and were thus left blank on the maps. There are certainly some reliable car trends, such as the world’s well-documented love for the Toyota Corolla, which has been the most popular car in the world for the 15th year in a row. A whopping 1.48 million Corollas were sold throughout the world in 2019. Toyota at large is extremely popular across the globe, as it was the best-selling brand in 41 nations, making it the most popular manufacturer in the world, according to these findings.

So, what does the data show in each country? That, yes, North America seems to drive a lot of Fords. In the U.S., the best-selling car was the Ford F-150. Woof. Canada was apparently wild for the rugged Ford F-Series and most people in Mexico are driving the Nissan Versa. In South America, most drivers had Toyota vehicles. The Toyota Hilux was the most popular car in Argentina and Peru and the Fortuna was the frontrunner in Venezuela. The Chevrolet Onyx was the most popular in Brazil and Paraguay, however.

In Europe, Toyota remained pretty popular, with the RAV4 the best-selling in Iceland and Estonia, the Corolla taking the top spot in Ireland, the Yaris reigned in Greece. Surprisingly, the Tesla Model 3 was the most popular on roads in Norway and the Netherlands. Unsurprisingly, the Peugeot 2001 was the best-selling car in France, Italians love the Fiat Panda, the Germans are big fans of the VW Golf and the Russians are driving the Lada Granta. In Africa, the Toyota Hilux appears to be very popular, as the Hilux was the best-selling car in South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Kenya, and the Ivory Coast.

In the Middle East and Central Asia, lots of Land Cruisers were on the roads in Yemen, Oman, the United Arab Emirates and Qatar. The Hyundai was popular in Saudi Arabia and the Saipa Pride was best-selling in Iran. In Asia and Oceania, the Corolla was the most popular in Taiwan and Pakistan, and the Hilux was best-selling in Australia and Thailand. The Wuling Mini Truck was the favorite car in China, the Maruti Alto in India, and the Honda N-Box was the most popular in Japan.
