Kit Harington only recently joined the brotherhood of fatherhood but he’s already adapted to one key component of being a dad: acting like a total dork for the sake of your kid. During an interview on The Tonight Show, the Game of Thrones actor revealed that he’s had to let his freak flag fly in order to entertain his son Morgan.

“I’d do anything,” he said. “Yeah, I think Rose is the one who he seems to respect and love, and she’s his safe place, and I just seem to be sheer entertainment. Do you know what I mean? And not even very good entertainment. Just entertainment.”

Harington, who is married to his former Game of Thrones co-star Rose Leslie, told Jimmy Fallon that his son loves it when he does ridiculous ‘dad dancing.’

“I used to be a good dancer, but I put him in his little chair, and he likes dancing to The Beatles,” Harington explained. “But he only likes it if I do these exaggerated moves. I’ve worked out where the ‘dad dance’ comes from.”

Lucky for all of us, Harington then showed off his ‘dad dance’ moves, which included a slight variation on the twist along with a few sporadic kicks thrown in for good measure (the dancing starts at about four minutes into the video).

It’s not hard to see why Morgan is entertained by his dad’s dancing, as it’s the perfect level of so-bad-it’s-good that is an essential part of fatherhood. Harington told Fallon that the only downside of embracing his inner dancing dad is that now he doesn’t think he’ll be able to dance like a normal person ever again.

“But now I realize, I go back onto a dance floor, and I’ll dance like that but lost the old moves entirely,” he said. “And then in the future, I know he’s going to mock me about it. And I’ll be like, ‘This is your fault.'”

Sorry, buddy, kissing your old moves goodbye is just a part of what being a dad is all about.
