Best Travel Strollers

For your next flight, since most fit in the overhead bin.

Having a child doesn’t automatically turn you into a shut-in. You still want to travel, and for that, you need a travel stroller.

Now, we’re not talking the best umbrella strollers here. While fine for quick trips, they aren’t necessarily built for long treks. These compact strollers, on the other hand, offer full-sized features but are lighter and can fit in the elevator or be carried to your fifth-floor walk-up. Not only that, but they all collapse or fold up to conveniently fit in a closet, behind the couch, or under a bed when not in use. Most also slide into a backpack and fit in the overhead bin of an airplane too ⏤ so yes, they’re good for travel. You’ll want a lightweight, compact stroller that’s durable and folds easily and quickly when you’re on the road. These are some of the best ones you can buy.

This Chicco travel stroller has a four-position backrest that easily adjusts with one hand for growing children. The canopy is adjustable and removable. It has a compact fold with an automatic storage latch and carry handle.

This travel stroller has 3D-style fold and a carry handle for convenience. There aren’t many bells and whistles, but it does include a cup holder and a storage basket. Beware that there are fairly consistent complaints about the shoulder straps not being connected to the waist harness, which is a challenge if your child is on the wiggly side.

How many city apartments have room for both a full-sized stroller and a portable car seat for crosstown cab rides? Answer, not enough. Which is why the 2-in-1 Doona ⏤ an infant car seat with an integrated compact stroller ⏤ is a must-have for urban parents.

Simply pull it out of the Uber and the wheels fold down like a plane’s landing gear. And speaking of planes, it’s FAA approved. Doona comes with a cushioned insert for infants up to 11 pounds and the unique design allows the stroller handle to double as an anti-rebound bar when positioned against the car’s back seat. A sunshade, rain cover, snap-on storage, and padded travel bag are all sold separately.
