“Husband Sleeping at the Wheel” Meme Goes Viral. It’s Hilarious.

He appears to sleep in front of ‘Jaws’ and the ‘Tiger King.’

It’s just a matter of perspective. But for this meme, perspective is everything. While on a road trip to visit family, Sharea Overman snapped a photo of husband Nate while he was driving that made it look like he was asleep in front of the steering wheel. Thankfully, of course, he wasn’t, but his posturereclining in his seat coupled with his sunglasses and mouth being ever so slightly agape, as if caught mid-snoozesort of makes it look like he was taking a quick nap. Bored on the drive, Sharea, who works as a photographer, decided to post the funny photo to a Facebook group that she’s a part of. And it quickly gained a lot of traction.

How? With the help of Photoshop! Sharea said, “I’m a part of this group of incredibly talented photographers on Facebook. So, I decided to post the photo and asked people to photoshop some fun backgrounds into the photo. To make it look like he fell asleep while all these crazy things were going on,” according to CNN

You can see doctored images of Nate appearing to sleep while the Tiger King looms in the background, or pigs flying, even one infamous scene from Jaws. It took a few days for it to become truly viral—and it has now garnered upwards of 300,000 shares on one of the Facebook postsbut once it did, Sharea said she started getting messages from people all over the world. She said, “There are people who have broken down and told us just how hard this year has been for them and that this is the first time they’ve been able to have a really good laugh at something,” as per CNN. Not a bad outcome for what started as a quick laugh during a car ride!

Well as most of you know, the post about me and Nate is going viral and is now making its way onto Twitter 😳😂 shocked is…

  1. Do you plan on sending your kids back to school this fall?
Yes. I trust that our schools are taking precautions.
No. We don't feel that proper precautions are in place.
I'm not sure yet. It depends on how things progress.
Thanks for the feedback!
