Actress Billie Lourd, who is the daughter of Carrie Fisher, AKA Princess Leia, has just announced that she’s become a mom! It’s exciting to see, and we’re sure the late and great Carrie Fisher would be proud. Lourd shared a surprise Instagram picture of her baby, named Kingston Fisher Lourd Rydell, a surprise indeed because Lourd didn’t make any public announcements about her pregnancy with fiancé Austen Rydell.

The photo appears to be a nod to the family’s Star Wars legacy (Lourd herself appeared in The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker), with the baby wearing an adorable space-themed onesie. And we can probably guess that the “Fisher” in Kingston’s name is an ode to Lourd’s late mom. In terms of baby announcements, this one definitely took fans and other celebrities by major surprise. Emma Roberts and Matt Bomer commented on the sweet photo with shock and awe. Lourd’s Booksmart castmates, including Beanie Feldstein and Kaitlyn Dever also commented, but the most memorable and succinct moment in the tidal wave of comments came from Jamie Lee Curtis, who wrote simply, “WAIT WHAT????” Our thoughts exactly.

Lourd and Rydell announced their engagement in June over Instagram, with a series of photos Rydell captioned, ““💍💍💍She said YES!! (Actually she said ‘Duhhh’) But I guess that’s even better than yes?!? 💗🤪🎉🎰💥🍾.” Congratulations to Lourd and may the force be with the couple as they begin their parenting journey.
