Parents know that the experience of applying any type of skin-care product on a young kid’s skin should basically be classified as an Olympic sport… and it’s one that I never seem to succeed at. Between opening up the always-sticky bottle, scooping out the right amount of product, and chasing after your kid to try and apply it, the whole situation can be messy and tiring. However, EmBeba’s Soothing Patches, a game-changing new product that offers a simpler, less stressful way to apply soothing products to children’s skin when they get mosquito bites or have irritated skin — and it’s a real winner.

How Do EmBeba’s Soothing Patches Work?

Designed for newborns and older, EmBeba’s Soothing Patches are easy-to-apply, sticker-like patches that are packed with ingredients such as aloe, allantoin, tea tree, and more — which aim to relieve a variety of skin issues. Does your child have an uncomfortable, irritating bug bite? Try an EmBeba patch to help calm the itch. Rash pop up on their skin? An EmBeba patch can offer cooling, quick relief. Heck, they’re even said to gently hydrate the skin, should your child experience dryness.

The cruelty-free patches are free of added fragrances, heavy metals, phthalates, and parabens. And they’ve been tested and approved by dermatologists and pediatricians to give you peace of mind.

My First Impression Of EmBeba’s Soothing Patches

As a parent of two young kids, I was excited to give this product a go. As soon as I pulled the box out of the mail, I noticed the colorful, cartoon packaging. The particular set that I got costs just $20, and it included 18 Soothing Patches that are divided into six re-sealable, travel-friendly pouches. (Smaller sets with three patches or nine patches are also available.) The patches come in panda- and heart-shaped versions — and this made my three-year-old daughter very eager to give them a try because they look nearly identical to actual stickers in her robust sticker collection.

What Happened When My Kids & I Tried The Patches

Next, we put the patches to the test. To use this product, open the pouch, take out a patch, pull off the plastic backing, and stick it directly onto the skin — it’s as easy as that. I tried out a patch on myself and immediately following application noticed that it felt cooling on the skin; it was quite a refreshing feeling overall. Per EmBeba’s recommendation, I also tried placing another patch in the refrigerator before applying it — it definitely lived up to its claim of offering an “extra cooling effect.”

Both of my kids tried out the EmBeba’s Soothing Patches as well and while they’re a bit too young to offer an in-depth description of the experience (though my three-year-old did comment the patches were “cute”), neither had any qualms with wearing them. Even better, they didn’t experience any sort of irritation — this is a big deal because my one-year-old has very sensitive skin, so we typically have to be careful about what we apply to it.

EmBeba’s Soothing Patches come in two adorable designs featuring pandas and hearts. The 18-patch multipack includes both styles.

Some Limitations Of The Soothing Patches

Another detail to note is that the patches did not move around on the skin, even as my kids wore them during playtime. One exception? When my daughter washed her hands, the patch lifted off the skin, so just keep that in mind. According to the instructions, the EmBeba Soothing Patches can be worn for up to 30 minutes. And removal was pain-free for me and my kids too — the patches can be pulled right off the skin, with no residue or stickiness left behind either. Just don’t apply them to your child’s eyes or open wounds.

Of course, if you ever have any questions or concerns about using this product, it’s a good idea to consult your child’s pediatrician. Store the patches in a cool, dry place and use them within one year of purchase.

The Verdict

All in all, both me and my kids are fans of the EmBeba Soothing Patches — the kids love the cutesy sticker-like design, and I appreciate the simplicity of application, as well as all of the skin-benefitting ingredients. You can bet the next time one of my kids has a rash, bug bite, sunburn, or other skin issues, I’ll be busting these out to provide them some soothing relief.
