Adam Sandler and Chris Rock Are Fathers Forced to Bond in ‘The Week Of’

The newest Netflix movie will debut on April 27.

The teaser trailer for The Week Of, Netflix’s newest movie starring Adam Sandler and Chris Rock, dropped today. The week in question is that leading up to a wedding, and Rock and Sandler play fathers of the bride and groom, respectively. Not much else is known about the upcoming film’s plot, though, based on the trailer, it seems safe to assume it will be filled with a lot of passive aggression, a bit of fighting, and a truckload of incredibly awkward moments.

Sandler and Rock spend most of the trailer sitting in a car and having a very passive aggressive discussion about the car’s AC. It’s clear that they rub each other the wrong way. Sandler tells Rock that he will turn on the air anytime he asks, only to ignore Rock’s repeated pleas. Eventually, Sandler relents and turns the air on for about five seconds before turning it off again. Total dad move.

The rest of the trailer features a montage of all the wacky hijinx and emotional moments that the two characters will get themselves into leading up to the wedding.

Rock and Sandler have been friends since they were both teenagers trying to make it in the world of stand-up. The real-life dads even played fathers onscreen in the abysmal but commercially successful Grown Ups and Grown Ups 2. While the trailer for The Week Of certainly has a comedic tone, it also hints that it may be more Top Five or Funny People, than Jack and Jill or, well, most other movies Sandler has made this century.

Along with Sandler and Rock, The Week Of features a cast that includes Steve Buscemi, Rob Morgan, and Rachel Dratch. It’s set to debut on Netflix on April 27.
