How to Use Netflix Secret Codes to Find Better Kids’ Entertainment
A major time-saver for family movie night.
Picking something on Netflix for kids to watch isn’t always the easiest. The streaming service’s library has grown to include so many thousands of movies and TV shows that sorting through it all, especially from the home screen, to find age-appropriate entertainment can be tricky. But if you’ve ever spotted an extremely specific category suggested on Netflix (think “Dramas based on Books” or “Romantic Foreign Movies”), it’s obvious there are better algorithmic recommendations hiding below the surface. And, lo and behold, the company has a secret way for you to easily find the best children’s entertainment.
Netflix won’t let users search for categories on their own. But a hidden list of numerical codes exist that let you pull them up right away, which can be a major time-saver if you’re trying to stream something hyper-specific for kids, like a Disney movie or animal-themed show.
Using the hidden codes is easy: copy and paste this URL (http://www.netflix.com/browse/genre/CODE) into your browser, and swap in any of the numerical codes in place of “CODE” before hitting enter. Then, you’ll see all the available content in that category.
Check out the full, up to date list of codes for kids’ categories below. You might want to print them out and tack them to the fridge — chances are high that you’ll be using them regularly. Happy streaming.
