Netflix Has A Premiere Date For The ‘Mystery Science Theater 3000’ Reboot
Mystery Science Theater 3000, your favorite show about robots making fun of bad movies, finally has a release date. Now you can stop rewatching old episodes on Hulu as you drift to sleep and wonder why creator Joel Hodgson hasn’t made new episodes where they riff on the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise.
MST3K made a full-blown revival in late 2015 after a record-setting Kickstarter campaign surpassed expectations and locked in 14 new episodes of craptastic films to riff. From there, fans were left scratching their heads like when they watched Manos: The Hands of Fate.
That is until Netflix announced they were picking up the series last summer in a gif. There’s no word if the series will be family-friendly (especially with Jonah Ray hosting), but MST3K normally took the higher humor road. Plus, it’s no different than what you already do with your kid when you watch Never Say Never.
With yesterday’s Facebook post, Netflix confirmed Ray, Patton Oswalt and Felicia Day will star in the new series along with everyone’s favorite wise-cracking bots Crow T. Robot and Tom Servo. But expect new voices, because, this is a reboot for the robots too. There’s no word what movies you’ll suffer through, but they can get halfway through the season with just Vin Diesel’s resume.
MST3K will debut in the not-too-distant future on April 14.
