Ludacris Freestyle of ‘Llama Llama Red Pajama’ Is Pretty Damn Good

Ludacris joins the likes of Christopher WalkenTom Hardy, and other A-listers who read classic bedtime stories for the Internet — except Luda turns a kids’ story into a dope as hell freestyle. The Atlanta rapper put down the most fire rendition of Llama Llama Red Pajama in history during a recent appearance on Power 106’s The Cruz Show. In theory, a bedtime story/rap hybrid seems like a sonic disaster waiting to happen. But to Luda’s credit, his flow works perfectly over the smooth beat and makes the story about a llama in red pajamas sound like a top 40 club banger. (Or, at the very least, a strong candidate for his best song since “Moneymaker.”)

To be fair, Migos technically beat Ludacris to the punch by freestyling a version of Llama Llama back in January. But their version was mostly a joke, while Ludacris’ version sounds like the sleeper song of the summer. That’s no easy task, especially considering all the lyrics are about a llama who is scared to go to sleep without his mama. Does this mean we’re about to get the lullaby edition of Chicken-n-Beer? In a world where Luda has CGI abs and plays a flying horse on Doc McStuffins, anything is possible.
