New Star Wars Lego Holiday Special Poster Is a Reminder That You’re a GREAT Dad

Did you get it? Yeah, it takes a second.

Next month, for the first time since 1978, there will be a holiday-themed Star Wars special. But this time, instead of a visit to Chewbacca’s relatives, and strange musical numbers from both Carrie Fisher and Bea Arthur, this Star Wars Holiday special will play it safe by keeping everything firmly in the world Lego movies.

On November 17, 2020, The Lego Star Wars Holiday Special will debut on Disney+. It will focus on a time-travel story in which Lego Rey will meet various people from the Star Wars world, all while she’s trying to celebrate “Life Day,” a big holiday in Star Wars that is celebrated by Wookies, and that one dude that the Mandalorian threw in carbon freeze.

Ahead of the November premiere, Disney+ dropped a new poster that may be the darkest inside joke that has ever been attempted on an official Star Wars product. The poster is just an image of a Lego person’s hand, with a holiday bow wrapped around it. Above this image, we get some next about who this present is from and who it is for. It just says: “To Luke. From, your Father.”

Wait for it. Yeah. Did your brain get there? Yep! You got it! Darth Vader is giving Luke a hand as a holiday present, because, you know, he cut off his child’s hand in a lightsaber duel in The Empire Strikes Back.

That’s the joke! Don’t you already feel like a great parent in contrast?

It’s unclear if a scene in which Vader actually tries to give Luke a Lego hand as a present will happen in the Lego Star Wars Holiday Special. But, if Disney and Lucasfilm are making this kind of joke on the poster, maybe this thing will end up being great.

The LEGO STAR WARS HOLIDAY SPECIAL hits Disney+ on November 17, 2020.
