FX on Hulu Launches This Week: Here’s What You Should Be Watching

It's like Disney+ for adults.

fxnetworks.com

Disney just launched a new salvo in the streaming wars, and it’s basically like Disney+ for adults.

As of now, the cable channel FX is part of Hulu and is included free with all existing Hulu subscriptions. This brings together a ton of the FX and FXX networks’ new and vintage shows in one place—and, when bundled with Disney+, makes a strong play for being the streaming service your family can’t live without.

Disney+ rocks when it comes to movies—the monthly subscription is worth it for the Marvel and Star Wars flicks alone—and has enough content for kids to keep them glued to the screen until college, but there’s no denying it’s a bit lacking in mature episodic entertainment. It’s also likely to stay that way, given Disney’s decision to transfer its original series High Fidelity and Love, Victor to Hulu for not being “family-friendly” enough.

Thanks to FX on Hulu, upgrading to the Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN bundle will more than take care of that issue. At launch, it brings more than 40 grownup TV series straight to your eyeballs, from new originals to the full runs of completed shows, to new episodes of current ones, which will be released on the service the day after they premiere on FX/FXX.

If you somehow still aren’t convinced, here are 5 FX on Hulu shows you need to stream right now.

Devs

This twisty new sci-fi series from Alex Garland (Ex Machina, Annihilation) follows a software engineer who infiltrates a shadowy tech startup run by a bearded, messianic Nick Offerman to search for clues to her boyfriend’s disappearance and uncovers a vast conspiracy. The reviews call it “a stunning mystery.”

The Americans

The Russians are America’s number one villain again, so there’s no better time to binge the full run of this acclaimed series about KBG spies Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys going undercover as a married couple in the suburbs of Washington, D.C. in the early ’80s.

It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia

After 14 seasons, this hilarious comedy about the increasingly ill-advised shenanigans of the misfit owners of a Philly dive bar is basically the live-action answer to The Simpsons.

Legion

This trippy take on the X-Men mythos from writer/director Noah Hawley (whose excellent TV take on Fargo is also here) is best experienced in one big, three-season bite.

Atlanta

Donald Glover’s acclaimed dark comedy series about two cousins trying to conquer the Atlanta rap scene is one of the most original shows of the decade. Too bad we’ve got a year to wait for season 3.
