Experts say that in order to have a good night’s sleep, you should turn off the TV. You say, your kid is finally asleep and it’s time to Netflix & chill (except with less “chill” and more “chiiilllll”). The internet says there’s a compromise called Napflix, and it’s exactly what it sounds like. Because sometimes you need to binge on shuteye instead of Breaking Bad.
Similar to the idea of “Slow TV” popularized in Norway, Napflix curates some of the most boring videos on the internet to help you go the f—k to sleep. The creator, Victor De Tena, came up with the idea for Napflix while watching a goalless yet soothing football match, he told Mashable. From sand in an hourglass to spinning rotisserie chickens, to a class in Klingon, there’s something to knock out most parents (and maybe their children). It’s Netflix but with less light, and instead of House Of Cards it’s the construction of an actual house of cards.
If you’re one of the 10 percent of Americans with chronic insomnia, the worst case scenario is that you stay up and accidentally learn a little something about sheep breeds without having to count them. But at the end the day (or whenever you find time to sleep), it doesn’t cost you anything to try it — or at the very least, tell your wife about it. She needs it more than you anyways.
