When it comes to reporting and breaking major NFL news, nobody holds a candle to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. But a young, up and coming hotshot might be looking to take the title from him: his eight-year-old daughter Dylan. Not only does she appear to have a natural affinity for reporting, but she also achieves a nearly impossible task: making the Patriots seem likable. Earlier this week, ESPN gave Adam’s eight-year-old daughter Dylan the task of interviewing players after the Patriots-Lions preseason game and she proved herself to be an ace reporter. Earlier this week, ESPN gave Dylan the task of interviewing players after the Patriots-Lions preseason game. With an assist from dear old dad, she managed to land postgame interviews with the biggest stars from both teams, including Tom Brady, Rob Gronkowski, Bill Belichick, and Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford.
Dylan started off the interviews by asking Gronk about his massive muscles and he explained his detailed workout regimen that allows him to be roughly the size of a small bear. Then she kicked his ass in an arm wrestling competition just for fun. She also managed to ask the questions fans have always wondered about, including Belichick’s fanatic devotion to sweatshirts and who wears the pants in Brady’s marriage. She even got in some questions about fatherhood, asking Stafford and Brady whether it’s harder to be a dad or a quarterback. Stafford said quarterback, but Brady said dad because, unlike his kids, his teammates actually listen to him.
Despite not even reaching double digits yet, Dylan more than handled herself as an NFL reporter, getting all the hot scoops and player quotes. After Dylan’s interview, Adam tried to ask Gronk a few questions, but the tight end was not having it. He quickly asked for Dylan, the “real professional,” to come back and interview him. Tom Brady gave Dylan a hug after she nailed her interview with him; most importantly, Bill Belichick even cracked a smile during the segment, something most NFL fans believed was physically incapable of doing. Looks like Dylan is already becoming the top Schefter in the NFL.
