When your kid is ready to transition from the crib to a bed, you could just swap one for the other and call it a day – but maybe put a little more thought into it. First, you need to get rid of the changing table, so there’s an opportunity for some sort of kid-friendly wardrobe. Also, figure out how to create some play space in the room, with a desk or a low table that they can use to draw or read or otherwise spend time on their own. Other things that will signify to them that this is their space include a bench for their stuffed animals and built-in storage for their toys. Your home may be your castle, but this room is your favorite subject’s little thatched hut, so spiff it up a little.
