One brave five-year-old boy named Luke Vincent threw all caution to the wind as he calmly scratched Prince Harry’s beard while he and his wife Meghan Markle rounded out the final leg of their trip to Australia this week. This has been a huge week for Harry and Meghan who just announced they are expecting their first child this week and have been greeted by hundreds sometimes thousands of their fans at every location since arriving in the continent.
The touching moment between Harry and Luke took place when Harry leaned down to give the boy a hug. Soon after Luke was photographed looking mesmerized as the hug ended but he continued to scratch Harry’s beard. According to the boy’s school principal explained, he loves Santa Clause, so his obsession with any beard makes some sense.
“Luke’s favourite person in the world is Santa Claus, who has a beard. So he rubbed Harry’s beard,” Vincent’s school principal Anne Van Darrel told 7 News Sydney.

Members of the royal family even have a handful of weird rules about how and when they’re allowed to touch each other in public. So this means most PDA is pretty off the table. That said, the fact that a member of the public broke their ‘no touching’ rule is pretty remarkable. It probably helps that Luke is an adorable five-year-old, but that makes it no less amazing.
“We were told] no touching. Definitely, I was very concerned once he started rubbing Prince Harry’s face and his hair but Prince Harry was completely gracious and so polite and realised what was happening with his infatuation with his beard,” Darel said. “We can only thank him so much for treating Luke with such respect.”
