Trevor Noah Offers a Hilarious and Impassioned Defense For Breastfeeding Moms

As usual, this Trevor Noah segment was shockingly insightful.

Comedy Central

We all know that breastfeeding is a natural and healthy way for mothers to feed their babies but for whatever reason, some people still try to shame moms for breastfeeding in public. Luckily, there are plenty of people out there who are more than happy to tell mom-shamers to shut up and sit down, including Daily Show host Trevor Noah. On last night’s episode, Noah offered an impassioned and hilarious defense of breastfeeding moms.

During a segment that honors National Breastfeeding Month, Noah first shot into a handful of news clips about mothers who had been told to “cover up,” while nursing their children. While all the clips rubbed him the wrong way, he took issue with one double standard in particular: the assertion that nursing is the same as a man pulling out his junk out and peeing everywhere.

“I’m confused by this guy’s reasoning. How is breastfeeding the female equivalent of peeing? Because peeing is the female equivalent of peeing. That guy knows that women also pee right?” Noah jokes. “To me, it just sounds like that dude just wants an excuse to take his dick out…He uses it for everything. ‘That car turned right on red! If he can do that then I’m gonna whip my penis out!’”

After noting that breastfeeding in public is protected by the law in every state, Noah turned it over to Desi Lydic, a mom of one, and comedian Dulce Sloan for a PSA about the subject. They reasoned that if certain people don’t want to see mothers nurse in public, those people should also make a push to end all of the incredibly uncomfortable things that take place in public.

The two went on to point out that people clipping their toenails in public, couples that make out inside of restaurants, and old men who go to public pools in banana hammocks each make people extremely uncomfortable. Yet, no one tells them to cover up? Lydic ended the segment by telling the haters to “make like a hungry baby and suck it up.”
