One of the best things about the holiday season besides family, friends, and food is watching the creativity pour out of marketing agencies to get our attention during the holidays. The best commercials come out at this time, and they’re ones that hit the heartstrings, grab hold of an old memory and make us laugh. Which is why you need to watch this Comcast commercial, aka the real-deal E.T. sequel.

One of the movie friendships of all time happens to be E.T and his earth friend Elliott. The two made quite the bond going through all those scary adventures, and now that it’s been years later, E.T. is back on earth to surprise Elliot with a visit.

The two haven’t seen each other for 37 years ago, and Elliot has a family of his own, their holiday reunion is as magical as the first time they met. The two waste no time getting cozy with each other again and the alien joins Elliot and his family through their holiday traditions.

While this short isn’t exactly the sequel we thought we would get, it’s a fantastic example of holiday-time commercials that tug at heart. Comcast NBCUniversal brought our two favorites together to remind us what the holiday is all about – love, family, and connection.

“Our goal is to show how Xfinity and Sky technology connects family, friends and loved ones, which is so important during the holidays,” Peter Intermaggio, Senior Vice President for Marketing Communications, Comcast Cable said in a press release. “The classic friendship between E.T. and Elliott resonates around the world, and their story became a very meaningful way to bring our company’s consumer technology to life.”

You can watch E.T the original movie with your family this holiday season! The film will be featured on SYFY on Thanksgiving Gay, and it will be made available on demand for Xfinity TV customers to watch when you’re all together this season.
