In the NBA, small children have the art of stealing the show down to a science. Case in point: After Golden State power forward Draymond Green fouled out of his team’s 121 to 105 win over the Los Angeles Clippers on Saturday, he used the final moments to have a courtside chat with a very small Warriors fan.
Decked out in a bright blue Warriors jersey, the toddler — who was sitting courtside with his family— reached up and placed his hand on Green’s knee. A mysterious dialogue ensued. What were they discussing? Maybe they were engaged in a lighthearted talk about how good it was to see Green back on the court after recovering from a shoulder injury. Maybe they were chatting about concession-stand options at the Staples Center. Who knows. It’d be more fun, however, to imagine the toddler and Green both irate over Green receiving his 11th technical foul of the season that night.
Green: *leaned back and sucking his teeth* “Maaaaaan, I can’t even one call out here!”
Baby: *equally confused and looking up at Green* “…You guys are gonna win anyway. What the ref needs to do is take his glasses out of…”
Green: “Stop with that grown man talk.”
Baby: “WELL GET HIM TO REVIEW THE PLAY THEN DRAYMOND! IT’S NOT GETTING DONE FROM THE BENCH!”
Green: “Listen, kid, I can’t get another technical.”
Baby: “Then get Steve Kerr over here; he can afford the ejection.”
Green: “I don’t think it’s good for hi—.”
Baby: “RIGHT NOW GREEN! GET HIM NOW. YOU REALLY THINK THIS IS A GAME ?”
If you look at the facial expressions of the two, it sure seems like this conversation could’ve been likely. But perhaps they were just chatting about the bright colors of the Golden State jersey. Either way, watching the two entertain one another was more interesting than the game’s final minutes.
