Sunday was a big night for Cardi B. Not only did the 26-year-old musical artist become the first female to win “Rap Album of the Year” at the 61st Grammy Awards, but she also heard her daughter say her name for the first time.
“After a week of only saying papa! She saying mama!” Cardi captioned the cute clip of Kulture, which she posted to her Instagram on Monday morning. “Happy 7 months Kulture! We love you.”
In the video, which already has almost seven million views, Cardi is heard tearfully exclaiming “Oh my god” and clasping her hand over her mouth after her baby says “Mama.” Kulture is Cardi’s first child, who she gave birth to in July 2018 with her husband, Migos rapper Offset.
And protecting the privacy of her infant daughter continues to be a priority for Cardi, who covered up Kulture’s face with a giant heart eyes emoji in the clip. The mom previously spoke out about keeping her baby’s identity private after paparazzi photos of the newborn were leaked without her consent.
Cardi also thanked Kulture in her speech at Sunday’s Grammys. “I’m not just saying thank you because she’s my daughter,” the rapper said, after accepting her award for her album “Invasion of Privacy.” “It’s because, you know, when I found out I was pregnant, my album was not complete.”
She went on to explain, “We were like, ‘We have to get this album done, so I could still do videos while I’m still not showing. And it was very long nights.”
