Parents with a taste for everlasting gobstoppers, snozzberries, and fizzy-lifting, rejoice: Universal Studios is in the process of building the Toothsome Chocolate Factory, a real life Wonka wonderland that will be part of the Universal Orlando Resort — a vacation destination that was probably inevitable for your family anyways.
The chocolate factory will join the ranks of the 50-plus other family-friendly restaurants that make up the Universal CityWalk. There will be Salted Caramel Flan and S’mores sundaes that you can wash down with a Red Velvet Milkshake as a part of juniors first lesson in vacation eating (chapter one: what not to do). They’re also jumping on the dessert bacon bandwagon with bacon brittle, bacon ice cream and even bacon caramel, which Augustus Gloop would definitely love to swim in.
Along with food, the tourist attraction will feature “towering smoke stacks, funky gadgetry, and staff wearing unique Steampunk fashion,” according to the Universal Orlando Blog. It will be a great bonding opportunity for you to explain to your youngster about oompa loompas while avoiding the creepy Johnny Depp reboot that still gives you nightmares. It might seem like a lot of nonsense, but like Wonka always said, a little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest man — that’s you, until you chug a bacon milkshake.
