Tom Hanks’ Son Wished His Dad Happy Birthday With a Hilarious Photo

Clearly, humor runs in the family.

American treasure Tom Hanks celebrated his 63rd birthday this week, so of course, his son shouted out the actor on social media. But we can’t help but notice something strange about the tribute; it’s a photo of…Michael Keaton?

Hanks’ 41-year-old son Colin celebrated his old man’s birthday with a photo of Batman star Michael Keaton, with a caption that reads: “Wanna wish a Happy 63rd Birthday to my dad!!! He’s a good man with a great sense of humor. Love ya Pops!” Confusing, yes, but it’s also not the first time the younger Hanks has honored his dad with a photo of 67-year-old Keaton. In 2016, he celebrated his dad’s birthday with an image of Keaton in the 1982 film Night Shift. Colin also wished Tom Hanks a happy Father’s Day via photos of Keaton in both 2018 and 2019.

Clearly, this is some kind of inside joke between the famous father and son, but they have yet to share what exactly it’s all about. It must be a family affair, given that Tom Hank’s wife, actress Rita Wilson, commented on the post with “Crying.” Fans are also playing along, with several comments telling Hanks that he looks just like his “dad”, and one user who jokingly wrote: “Loved your dad in Night Shift.”

The only connections we can see between the two actors are the fact that they were castmates in 2010’s Toy Story 3 and both built comedy careers in the 1980s. And in case you were wondering, Michael Keaton’s actual birthday isn’t until September 5. Perhaps Colin will post a photo of Tom Hanks on that day, just for funsies.
