Wherever there’s a family doing anything on social media, there’s a parent-shamer nearby to call them out. When you’re a celebrity parent, though, the shaming is relentless. Tom Brady is the most recent victim of celebrity parent-shaming after he posted a video his six-year-old daughter cliff-jumping.
In the clip, the New England Patriots quarterback is seen standing on a cliff ledge in Costa Rica with his daughter Vivian before the pair leap into the waters below. Before they take off, he asks Vivian: “Ready?” before counting to three. He captioned the post: “If Vivi is going to be an Olympic champion one day, it probably won’t be in synchronized diving. Daddy always gives her a 10 though!” The 41-year-old also commented under the video, “I didn’t want to be the first Brady to fall off a cliff!”
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson left the comment: “You KNOW I have complete faith in you as a man, friend, player and father – but this just gave me anxiety. Geeezus.” He added a laughing/crying emoji, so it’s safe to say he was just joking around, but others were serious about their concerns. “When she hesitated, he could of dislocated her shoulder! He snatched her into the water! Smmfh…” one Instagram user commented. “OMGGGG! HOW irresponsible is that…poor baby, she wasn’t even ready to jump!” said another. “Your wife may file for divorce when she sees this video,” one user wrote, referring to Vivian’s mother, Giselle Bundchen.
The parent-shamers never fail to bring the criticism, but hopefully, Brady can shake off the haters who always find a reason to try and make moms and dads feel bad about their parenting skills.
