One of the more fun things about raising kids is watching them come into their own. Forming their personality, their likes, and dislikes, and narrowing down what they’re really good at is a delight. Some kids pick up sports easily. Others find a passion in cooking or reading. But this young 2-year-old found his passion — cartography! And his skills are so impressive, he’s gone viral on TikTok.
The 2-year-old, whose nickname is Boops on TikTok, has gone viral, for having ridiculously impressive geography skills. The toddler, who is too young to enter traditional public school yet, knows the United States map like the back of his hand.
In a video posted to TikTok, Boops’ mom can be heard speaking over the clip of the toddler in front of a map of the United States on the wall. At the start of the video, posted on TikTok on April 18 and Digg not long later, the 22-month-old boy runs toward the map on the wall shouting “Texas” the pointing to the correct state.
Following that, his mom says, “OK, where is California?” prompting the toddler to point to the state on the map, which he quickly finds. Next up Florida, followed by Louisiana, New Mexico, and Arizona. Next, mom asks Boops to find the Gulf of Mexico, which he can do quickly.
After a few “good jobs” from mom, she then asks him to point to the state where they live. He pops his little pointer finger right in the middle of Texas, and his mom asks, “what state is that?”
“Texas,” he shouts with ease.
The skill it takes to do this, especially at such a young age, isn’t lost on people. Comments flooded the video with people who were impressed with how much geography this little man knows already.
“Fantastic Job!” one person wrote, adding, “keep it up, he’s smarter than most adults.”
“Yes, and he’s excited about it! Starting young is the key,” shared another person.
“He is definitely going places– literally!” someone else wrote.
Something tells us this won’t be the last time we see a video go viral from this wunderkind!
