Ryan Reynolds Shares the ‘Dangerous’ Valentine’s Day Cake He Baked For His Wife

“I baked this cake for my wife. The icing is glue, ‘cause I’m not a scientist."

Ryan Reynolds is known for his irreverent and hilarious social media presence. On Valentine’s Day, the Deadpool star did not disappoint when he shared a photo of the delicious and dangerous cake he baked for his wife, Blake Lively, to celebrate the day. On the surface, everything about the photo seems perfectly innocent and even sweet, as Reynolds is shown holding up a heart-shaped cake covered with strawberries. But with Reynolds, there is always a twist and the caption provides the reveal. It turns out that Reynold’s romantic gesture could have accidentally sent his wife on a Valentine’s Day trip to the emergency room. Maybe.

“I baked this cake for my wife. The icing is glue, ‘cause I’m not a scientist,” Reynolds captioned the photo. Now, unless you’re a food stylist on the set of bakery commercial, glue is not something you typically apply to a cake for any number of reasons, not least of which is that it can be toxic. Even if Reynolds used a non-toxic glue for his V-Day cake, it doesn’t make the cake any more edible. Obviously, Reynolds knows this.

Of course, he didn’t actually use glue instead of frosting on his wife’s cake and is simply making a self-deprecating joke about his mediocre baking skills. Remember, making jokes on Twitter is what he does. It’s also not the first time Reynolds’ lacking culinary skill has been the target of teasing, as Lively previously shared her husband’s less than stellar attempt to decorate Christmas cookies. Nonetheless, you do have to give him credit for baking a decent looking heart-shaped cake. At least he tried, right?
