Robin Williams’s Daughter Is the Genie According to Instagram Filter

Zelda Williams got the best answer to the question "Which Disney character are you?"

If you’ve been on Instagram in the new year, you’ve probably seen one of 2020’s earliest viral trends: the “What ____ are you?” filters. Pokémon and Disney characters seem to be the most popular varieties of the trend, which carries on the tradition of the Buzzfeed quiz.

But instead of answering questions to get the answer, all you have to do with the filters is press record and wait for it to cycle through the options—displayed over your head—and arrive on the answer. It’s all pretty silly, but one particular example is making the internet tear up.

Zelda Williams, the daughter of the late Robin Williams, tried the Disney version and, believe it or not, got the Genie. As in one of her father’s most famous characters, the one that inured him to a new generation of fans when Aladdin was released in 1992. It seems too good to be true, so check it out for yourself.

  1. Do you plan on sending your kids back to school this fall?
Yes. I trust that our schools are taking precautions.
No. We don't feel that proper precautions are in place.
I'm not sure yet. It depends on how things progress.
Thanks for the feedback!

People love this kind of thing, and they really love Robin Williams, so Zelda’s tweet has over 142,000 likes already, along with a slew of emotional replies.

Beyond the serendipity of Zelda getting the Genie, plenty of people also couldn’t help but notice how much she looks—and laughs—like her dad.

It’s looking like 2020 is going to be a dumpster fire of a year, so moments of levity like this one are more than welcome. And if you’re feeling extra nostalgic now, why not watch Aladdin on Disney+?
