The Dad Who Tried to Hurt Larry Nassar Is Helping Victims of Sexual Assault there is more

Randall Margraves, the father of three girls who were sexually assaulted by former USA Gymnastics doctor Larry Nassar has announced that he will donate just over $30,000 to Michigan groups that advocate for sexual assault survivors.

Last week, Margraves made national attention when he lost his cool and tried to tackle Nasser during sentencing last week. Margraves expressed a great deal of regret for his actions, fearing that he’d made the moment about himself instead of helping his daughters heal. “I want to make it real clear that I am no hero.” he said “My daughters are the heroes and all the victims and the survivors of this terrible atrocity,”

The money Margraves plans on donating come from a GoFundMe page opened in his name this week. The page was intended to help him pay for whatever legal fees his family may have incurred over the course of the trial. Margraves, while moved by the gesture, admitted that he didn’t need the money and would be donating it to Small Talk, RAVE, and the Firecracker Foundation. Both Firecracker and Small Talk focus their advocacy specifically on children who have been victims of sexual assault.

According to a CNN report, the family’s attorney asked for all fundraising efforts to stop. It wasn’t until realizing that the funds were largely raised by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, a union of which Margraves has long been a member. He was “overcome with gratitude” at the gesture.
