Pink is no stranger to parent-shamers online. But now the pop singer, who is well-known for her fiery comebacks, has finally had enough. On Monday’s airing of The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Pink announced that she won’t be posting about her kids on social media anymore.
Her decision came after a photo of two-year-old Jameson at the beach without a diaper on was attacked for being “inappropriate.” Pink told DeGeneres that the controversy surrounding that picture was her breaking point.
“I cried. I cried so hard after that because I like to share my family. It’s my proudest moment in my whole life. I’m prouder of my kids than anything I’ve ever done,” the 39-year-old said, tearing up onstage. “And I just won’t share them anymore. I won’t do it. I’m not posting pictures of them anymore.”
She went on to explain, “People went as far as saying, ‘Someone should call Child Services,’ because he didn’t have a diaper on, and ‘How dare I?’ — just some of the nastiest things.”
Pink, who also has seven-year-old daughter Willow with husband Carey Hart, admitted that she has no problem accepting constructive criticism—but she won’t tolerate hateful comments anymore. “I understand people saying, ‘You need to be more careful, you are in the public eye, you should have thought of that,'” she said to DeGeneres. “And they’re right, but there’s a nice way to say that.”
And regardless, the mom of two thinks her choice comes at “a good time” for her kids, especially Willow “She’s 7 now,” Pink explained. “It’s probably time to pull her back from the world and let her live her best life.”
