Carey Hart Provokes “Parent Police” With Video of His Daughter Shooting a Gun

He says it's just for fun.

Pink’s husband Carey Hart has sparked a debate on social media with a recent video of his daughter. The controversial clip, which he posted to Instagram on Wednesday, shows seven-year-old Willow firing a rifle.

“Haven’t poked the parent police bear in a few days,” Hart captioned the video, adding that “Willz,” who he says started shooting when she was three years old, is “getting pretty good.” According to Hart’s post, the young girl can hit a 12-inch pie plate from 30 yards away.

“For the record none of us hunt, just enjoy shooting for sport,” explained the dad of two. “I’m raising the kids with knowledge of firearms, how to handle them, shoot them, store them, and avoid them in uneducated hands.” He ended his caption with the hashtag “#knowledgeispower.”

Many of the comments on Hart’s video are positive, praising the 43-year-old for educating his daughter. “Thank you for teaching your daughter to respect and safely handle a firearm,” writes one person. “As a responsible gun owner, you are a model for other like-minded parents.”

However, there are also a few critics who questioned Hart’s parenting decision. “There is absolutely no reason why a 3-year-old needs to be shooting a gun,” commented one person, adding, “It is just indoctrinating the toxic American culture that guns are somehow ‘cool’ and a ‘hobby’ idgaf if it’s your 2nd amendment right – it’s complete bullshit.”

But Hart is used to defending himself to what he calls the “parent police.” (In December, the former motocross racer was slammed for posting a picture of 23-month-old son, Jameson, on a dirt bike.)

And this time is no different. To the above negative comment, Hart responded, “I understand that you don’t ‘give a fuck it’s my 2nd amendment right’ but I sure as hell do.”
