People Are Canceling Their Equinox and Soul Cycle Memberships; Are Marvel Movies Next?

After the success of Avengers: Endgame, Marvel is on top of the world; but Armie Hammer might have just knocked them down a peg. Recently, popular brands such as Equinox and Soul Cycle have come under fire after it was reported that the investor behind them is a donor to Trump’s 2020 re-election campaign. Some have begun calling for boycotts of these companies, but actor Armie Hammer pointed out that Marvel just might be associated with the scandal.

“Hey, while everyone seems to be on this Equinox thing, it might be a good time to mention that one of Trump’s largest financial contributors is the chairman of Marvel Entertainment (Isaac Perlmutter)….. jussayin,” the 32-year-old Call Me By Your Name actor wrote on Twitter.

Perlmutter, who is the current chairman and former CEO of Marvel Entertainment, has reportedly donated $2,800 (the maximum individual amount per election) to the Trump campaign, as well as almost half a million dollars to Republican committees.

Though Hammer hasn’t technically said anything untrue, many are calling him out for breezing over the fact that Marvel Entertainment is a separate entity from Marvel Studios. “He stepped down in 2015. He hasn’t been a part of Marvel Enterntainment in YEARS,” one user wrote. “Yes, he’s a terrible person but hes no longer involved. Get your facts straight.”

Others claim Hammer’s bitter over his casting as Batman in the never-made Justice League movie for DC. Whatever’s going on here, it’s unlikely that enough people will boycott Marvel for it to suffer in any way. But then again, stranger things have happened.
