Watch Paul Rudd and James Corden as a NSFW Kid’s Music Duo

In a faux music documentary, the pair finally figures out why Mr. Rogers wanted to personally kick their asses.

In a delightful bit from last night’s The Late Late Show, cherubic host James Corden teamed up with ageless wonder Paul Rudd to make children’s music videos that, while barely safe for post-midnight TV, never had a chance of making it on PBS.

The sketch is framed as an interview with the two, former collaborators in a children’s music duo known as The Naptime Boyz. In a Behind the Music-style documentary, both were struggling as solo acts until they met each other and “something just clicked.”

“We were going to be the biggest thing that the world of children’s music had ever seen,” Rudd said. The duo even secured a whopping $900 advance.

“We were on our way up but, I don’t know, after we recorded our music video for the song: radio silence,” said Rudd.

“To this day we don’t know what happened. It was a great song with a great video,” Corden added.

We quickly learn what happened. The music video, which starts out wholesome, quickly comes to include the most NSFW pantomime you can imagine, everything from rolling dice to brushing teeth to using skis. You don’t need much of an imagination to figure out the joke, but the sketch works because neither Corden nor Rudd holds back, each turning in a hilariously…vigorous performance.

Two subsequent music videos get even raunchier and earn them a promise from Mr. Rogers that he would personally kick their asses. Watch the whole thing to see just how graphic a performance has to be to earn a threat of physical violence from the famously peace-loving TV icon.
