The first season of The Mandalorian came to a thrilling end and next up for the Star Wars television universe will be Obi-Wan Kenobi’s spin-off series that will focus on the Jedi Master’s time as a recluse on Tatooine following the rise of the Galactic Empire in Revenge of the Sith. Filming for the series is set to begin in 2020 and according to reports, the Disney+ is looking to cast a major character for the series: a young Luke Skywalker.
This shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise for anyone familiar with the timeline of the series, as the only reason Obi-Wan is on Tatooine is to keep an eye on Luke as he is raised by his uncle Ben and aunt Beru. According to FandomWire, we will get to see Luke as a child being raised on the remote desert planet, unaware that he is the son of the second-most powerful being in the universe.
The real question is if Luke and Obi-Wan will ever end up crossing paths with the Mandalorian. The answer, unfortunately, is almost certainly no, since Mando’s adventures take place after Return of the Jedi and before The Force Awakens, which both are long after Obi-Wan has taken Luke off of Tatooine and became a force ghost following his final battle with Darth Vader. So while the idea of the two shows doing a crossover may be appealing to fans, it’s not in the cards for the spin-off series to come together in any real way.
