The final trailer for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom has just dropped, and the latest entry into the Jurassic franchise appears to be packed with rampaging dinosaurs, hubristic scientists, heroic somersaults, and more than a few ways to make viewers jump out of their skin.
Set four years after the events of Jurassic World, the trailer explains that all of the creatures originally on Isla Nubar for the initial Jurassic World theme-park were left on the island. Now, an eminent volcanic eruption threatens to kill all of the genetically engineered dinosaurs on the island. A businessman named Eli Mills hires Owen (Chris Pratt) and Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard) to rescue Blue, the last velociraptor of her kind and the only one that Owen fully trained in the last film.
We all knew this from the first trailer. But, what the new trailer really gets into, is drum roll please, that much of the action in Fallen Kingdom will take place off the island. That’s right. Eli has ulterior motives — because of course he does and he’s hanging with B.D. Wong who is apparently full-on evil now and is on a mission to capture the remaining dinos (including Blue) to copy their DNA to manufacture and sell an army of trainable super-predators.
Obviously, this leads to the creation of a new terrifying hybrid-a-saur which escapes its enclosure and starts wreaking havoc and threatening innocent people. It’s up to Owen, Claire, and Blue to save the day. The trailer also gives us more of of Jeff Goldblum reprising his role as Dr. Ian Malcolm while looking all Goldblum-y and reprising his famous “life finds a way” speech.
The trailer includes a lot of explosions, sweaty running, near misses, and sharp dinosaurs on the cusp of eating small kids. There’s also a terrifying shark dinosaur swimming near a bunch of surfers and, last but definitely not least, Chris Pratt performing a tuck and roll through the jaws of an angry T–Rex That’s right: Chris Pratt does a tuck and roll through the jaws of an angry T-Rex.
Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom hits theaters on June 22nd.
