More Than 30 Medicines for Kids Have Been Recalled Due to Microbial Contamination

There has been no sickness reported from the drugs yet, but the recall remains prudent.

The drug company King Bio has issued a voluntary recall of some of their products that have tested positive for microbial contamination. All of the drugs in question were produced between August 2017 and April of this year. While there have been no reported complications from using any of the recalled drugs, King Bio has issued the recall “out of an abundance of caution.”

In this case, the term microbial means that the drugs were contaminated with tiny microorganisms that create a bacterium capable of causing disease or fermentation. Thus, using the drugs may actually increase the likelihood of contracting a dangerous and potentially life-threatening infection. Beyond the fact that dangerous microorganisms shouldn’t be in your body, to begin with, given that the drugs are homeopathic as well, there could be some increased risk of using them.

King Bio specializes in homeopathic drugs. So, unlike say, chemotherapy, which is a treatment that uses radiation to kill cancerous cells, homeopathic drugs contain small amounts of the disease that is causing a person’s illness and use a trace amount of it to kill the disease. King Bio’s recalled drugs set out to cure everything from chicken pox to bed-wetting, which means it’s best to check and make sure your child’s medicine isn’t on the recall list.

The drug manufacturer will allow consumers to either return the drugs for a full refund or exchange them for ones that haven’t been recalled. Any consumers with questions about their particular drug are being encouraged to contact the company at recall@kingbio.com.
