The Internet Is Furious at This Mom Who Tried to Pay a Babysitter With Ice Cream

Taking cheap to a new level.

A mom is facing a lot of criticism after refusing to pay her babysitter for a full day of childcare. In a string of texts shared to Reddit on Saturday, the mom tells sitter Kristen that she was paid in ice cream and time with her kids.

“I wasn’t aware payment was involved,” wrote the mom when Kristen asked if she could swing by to collect the money. “You got free ice cream and a day of fun… I’m sorry for the misinterpretation.”

Even when the girl sends a screenshot of them agreeing to a rate of $16 an hour over text, the mother still doesn’t give in. Arguing that the sitter is “acting kind of stuck up,” she suggests a compromise of $20 instead of the $128 that’s owed since “they’re easy kids.”

While the babysitter refuses to take the mom’s offer, she is willing to settle for less than the original rate, saying, “You promised, and I have textbooks to pay for. Please, I would accept $100.”

The mother not only refuses to pay that amount, but she also lashes out at the girl with a text that reads, “I wish I didn’t have such a stuck up cunt watching my kids,” before blocking her.

After the post went viral, Kristen and her brother (who originally shared the texts on Reddit) decided to reach out to the husband in an attempt to get her payment. According to a follow-up post that has since been deleted, they threatened to take the couple to small claims court.

“Guess what happened?” wrote her brother in the update. “Within thirty minutes, my sister was unblocked from the mother’s phone and the cash is set to return today at 2 pm.”
