During Tuesday’s University of Maryland basketball game, the Fan Cam caught a mom lip-syncing to Kelly Clarkson’s “Since U Been Gone,” much to the embarrassment of her son. In the video that’s now going viral, Mandy Remmell jams out on the Jumbotron while 10-year-old Blake cringes in the seat next to her.
“I was shocked that he was actually so embarrassed, but you know, when your mom is broadcasted on the Jumbotron making you laugh and sing, you get real scared,” said Remmell. At one point during her performance, she even used her phone as a microphone to serenade Blake, who was seen covering his face.
According to Remmell, Blake, who also plays basketball, had been thinking about going to the University of Maryland for college. “Then this happened, and I was like, ‘I don’t know that you’re going to go there now, buddy! Haha! You won’t live this down,” joked the Maryland mom about her performance.

Tweeted by the Maryland Basketball page, the cute clip is receiving a lot of attention. Even Kelly Clarkson herself retweeted it, with the caption, “This is my kind of mama. #ThatKidIsNotHavinIt.”

And while Tuesday night’s matchup between the Maryland Terrapins and the Loyola Greyhounds may have been the duo’s first basketball game together, it definitely wasn’t the first time Remmell has embarrassed Blake. “I know that she always does stuff like that. All the time,” he said.
But Remmell isn’t worried, saying, “He’ll think in 20 years from now I’m the cool mom.”
