A mom-to-be canceled her own baby shower after her family ridiculed the name she chose for her future son. In a Facebook post that has since been deleted, the expecting mother accused her “fake ass” family of judging her for deciding to name her baby Squire Sebastian Senator.

“Y’all have been talking shit about my unborn baby,” she ranted to the invited guests on the baby shower’s Facebook page. “No, I am not crazy. No, I am not mentally unstable. No, I was not drunk when I named my child.”

The mom also stressed that Squire Sebastian Senator is only the baby’s first name and that he will not be allowed to have a nickname. “He is to be called by his full and complete first name,” she wrote, adding, “Why name your baby boring and over-used names like Joshua, Brian, Sam… when you can name it something special.”

That's not a conversation I plan to have.

I feel unprepared and uncomfortable, but plan to have the conversation.

Explaining that she chose the unique name because of the squires and senators in her own family tree, she argued that “this name conveys power. It conveys wealth. It conveys success.” In her opinion, her son’s name will make him “extraordinary” and that he will “live a powerful, wholesome life” because of it.

The mom-to-be concluded her angry post by telling her family that they will no longer be allowed to be part of her baby’s life “all because [they] had to judge him.” She noted that she will also throw a “smaller, more inclusive party” for a select group of people who won’t judge her.
