Former First Lady Michelle Obama’s post-White House life is pretty busy, and now, with the soon-to-come launch of her Spotify podcast. The podcast — eponymously titled “The Michelle Obama Podcast” will cover a variety of topics and feature a guest every single episode. While all of the guests are exciting and will provide different insights, perhaps the first guest will be the best. That guest, fans of Michelle will be delighted to hear, will be none other than former President, and really, America’s Favorite Dad President, Barack Obama.
That’s right — the extremely popular former first couple will open up the first ever episode of Michelle Obama’s podcast to talk all things quarantine, marriage, and the general hellscape that has been 2020. And it’s because of the tumultuous events of this year that Michelle even invited her husband, Barack, she explains. The teaser trailer teases guests like Conan O’Brien, her mother, Marian Robinson, Dr. Sharon Malone, her brother, Craig Robinson, and Valerie Jarrett. But the first guest might be the most exciting.
“Given everything that’s going on right now, from the killings of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery and the ongoing protests and conversations that are testing our patience — and our consciences… not to mention all the challenges we’re experiencing due to the pandemic, I think that these days, a lot of people are questioning just where and how they can fit into a community.” She continues that Barack is the special guest because of his work navigating these questions throughout his whole life. “In many ways, you can see his entire career as a constant conversation and evolution with his relationship to a larger and larger community.”
The episode will air on July 29, exclusively on Spotify.
