It’s generally a good rule of thumb in life to be open to new things, especially trying new foods. But mayonnaise-flavored ice cream? Come on, that’s disgusting. Unfortunately, it’s also real ⏤ a viral abomination courtesy of a Scottish ice cream store ⏤ and weirdly dividing people on the internet and in the store.
Kyle Gentleman, the Victor Frankenstein behind the new flavor, is the owner of the ice cream parlor Ice Artisan Ice Cream in Falkirk, Scotland. Already known for some outlandish flavors including Strongbow dark fruit and Monster Energy, it was ice cream maker’s “love of mayo” that inspired his most brazen creation yet. Remarkably, people passing through his shop seem to love it ⏤ at least those who have been willing to taste.
“People actually enjoy it once they try it,” Gentleman says. “Surprisingly, it actually works as an ice cream ⏤ creamy and smooth.” And making it, he adds, isn’t tricky at all. He just mixes Hellman’s mayonnaise with his homemade dairy ice cream mix. Simple as that. More challenging, we can only imagine, is finding people who are open to trying new things, especially new foods.
I would try the mayo ice cream…

It probably won't taste that bad? It probably makes the ice cream super creamy and light instead of tasting like mayonnaise? I have a chocolate cake recipe with mayo in and it makes the cake super moist and brings out the chocolate flavour! @simonrim Whats your chef opinion?????

I found out someone made mayonnaise ice cream. All I got to say is just because we can doesn’t mean we should.
