The Little League World Series is officially underway and last night’s game between Georgia and Texas had everything that makes the global tournament a cultural touchstone: teamwork, late-game heroics, and, of course, gloriously over-the-top celebrations from parents.
It’s a moment that every kid dreams of. Georgia was down two runs with two outs in the bottom of the sixth (the last inning of LLWS games) when Jansen Kenty stepped up to the plate with a runner on third. Kenty was down to his last strike when he earned himself a spot in the SportsCenter Top 10 by blasting a game-tying two-run home run.
It was impossible not to get excited watching Kenty get mobbed by his teammates as he touched home plate. And while his home run was undoubtedly the highlight of the night, his dad’s insanely proud reaction was every bit as thrilling.
As soon as Kenty’s dad realized his son went yard, he lost his damn mind and began cheering in a way that only dads can. His euphoria proves to be overwhelming, as he soon leaves his seat and begins running around the stands and yelling enthusiastically at the crowd. Finally, he gets the chance to briefly share the moment with his son, as he screams from the stands as his son walks towards the dugout while still enjoying the incredible moment with his teammates.
Georgia went on to win the game in extra innings, scoring on a sacrifice fly to defeat Texas 6-5. They will play Michigan on Tuesday.
