Kim Kardashian is facing backlash after allowing her five-year-old daughter North West to wear makeup. In a series of photos posted to Twitter and Instagram on Monday, the young girl is seen sporting bright red lipstick at the Kardashian-Jenner Christmas party.
“It just might be a new Classic Red Lip I have launch VERY soon,” Kim tweeted shortly after sharing the photos, which featured Kim along with husband Kanye West and kids North, 5, Saint, 3, and Chicago, 11 months.
The Internet quickly reacted, with many followers criticizing Kim’s decision to let North wear lipstick, calling it inappropriate for her age. “Why put lipstick on such a young girl? Come on now already prepping her to think she has to wear makeup to be beautiful??? NO!!” one user said. Another added, “She would’ve been perfect without the lipstick.”
However, some fans stood up for the 38-year-old. “I think if Mom says it’s ok then it’s ok! Also North just wants to be like mom so go North for being you and original! Love you Kim and letting your kids just be themselves!” one wrote.
The mom of three has previously admitted that while North loves makeup, she has certain rules for her daughter. “I don’t think she should wear lashes or too dark of a lipstick,” she said earlier this month. “I want her to express herself, but I want her to be appropriate, too.”
And North’s choice of red for Christmas got Kim’s seal of approval. She defended her oldest daughter on Wednesday, tweeting, “She picked it though! It’s a special occasion!”
